What is Financial Planning ?
Most people have a preconceived idea that one uses a Financial Planner when they have a significant amount of money that needs managing.
In reality people seek out a Financial Adviser when they arrive at a critical life change -
- about to retire
- in the process of changing jobs and need to deal with their superannuation
- realise they need tax planning strategies
- receive an inheritance
- in the process of divorce
- come to a realisation they need investment advice etc
They are looking for specialist technical advise to address the current issue.
My idea of Financial Planning is that clients need an adviser for guidance, to understand the process, to provide clients with the tools, structure, knowledge and support systems.
This is such a different way at looking at the role of the adviser. I believe everyone has the capacity to create for themselves. Most people need the guidance, they need to understand the process and see how they can apply simple changes and practices in their life that will lead to a sense of feeling financially in control.
I believe a good Financial Planner should allow clients to grow in their understanding and foster a sense of feeling financially in control.
A Financial Adviser is your long term committed financial partner.
